Improve your Book Blurb / Description!

We’re delighted to offer a brand-new service to historical fiction authors – help with your book blurbs!

You have written your book, and had it edited and proofread. You’ve chosen a fabulous cover. Now that your book is ready for publication, there’s only one thing missing: an eye-catching, intriguing book blurb / sales page description!

Here, at The Coffee Pot Book Club, we will help you tweak your blurb to perfection. It will be clear of narrative clutter, free from spoilers, and tempting to readers – and presented in a pleasant, easy-to-read, and tidy layout.

With years of experience as a published and self-published writer, publisher, editor, and book reviewer, Cathie will be delighted to help you.

Genres we cover:

  • Historical Fiction, including sub-genres
  • Historical Romance
  • Women’s Fiction
  • Dual-Timeline / Timeslip Fiction
  • Mysteries, historical and contemporary

What we will need from you:

  • A draft blurb / back cover description.
  • A brief synopsis of max. 2 A4 pages, outlining your main character(s), their conflict, and a rough but complete plot outline, including the ending.
  • Your book’s genre, including sub-genres.
  • Information about the book: Is it a standalone novel or part of a series?
  • If it is part of a series, please include an Amazon link to the series.
  • An idea of which reader group your book should appeal to.

What we will do for you:

  • We present you with two new versions of your blurb, saved in a Word document in standard text and HTML.
  • We will create versions based on the information you provide, with a focus on characters, plot, tag lines, and a CTA or similar.
  • We check spelling and punctuation (UK & US English).
  • We will be liaise with you by email.

Cost: £20


Terms and Conditions

  • The Coffee Pot Book Club reserves the right to decline requests if draft blurbs are deemed too explicit, too violent, or unsuitable.
  • We do not guarantee any increased sales as a result of our work on a blurb.
  • On completion, authors will own the rights to the blurbs, but are not under any obligation to accept or use either blurb.
  • The Coffee Pot Book Club will not upload your blurb to any online stores, although we can provide the text in HTML format for easy upload.
  • No refunds will be issued, except where we decline requests.
  • All rights reserved.
